Scottish Rite Cathedral Wedding with Timeless All-White Florals
An All-White Floral Scottish Rite Cathedral Wedding
An all-white floral palette and a black-tie wedding at Scottish Rite Cathedral? Such a good pairing. For Morgan and Austin’s Indianapolis celebration, we filled the venue with hundreds of white hydrangeas, roses, and orchids, creating a floral design that felt elegant, timeless, and beautifully suited to the space.
Their ceremony took place in the Scottish Rite Cathedral South Lounge, followed by a reception in the Ballroom. With dark paneling throughout both spaces, the white flowers brought a striking contrast that carried from one part of the celebration to the next.
White Wedding Flowers with Plenty of Texture
Working within a single color palette gives us an opportunity to focus on the shape and texture of each flower. For Morgan and Austin, full hydrangeas created a lush foundation, roses brought a classic softness, and orchids added a more elegant, sculptural detail. We paired these elements with evergreen foliage and textured blooms like Queen Anne's lace to create visual interest.
Together, these flowers gave the venue depth while keeping the overall aesthetic clean, timeless, and cohesive. There was plenty of abundance, but the all-white palette kept everything feeling refined.
White roses and orchids feel like "the black-tie of floral design", which paired it so naturally with the wedding party’s classic formal style.
An Elegant Ceremony in the Scottish Rite South Lounge
The all-white floral palette starteda in the South Lounge for the ceremony, where the flowers offered the same beautiful contrast against the room’s dark paneling.
Keeping the flower varieties and colors consistent helped connect the ceremony and reception while allowing each space to have its own atmosphere. Hydrangeas, roses, and orchids brought fullness and softness to the setting, carrying Morgan and Austin’s timeless vision throughout the celebration.
For the ceremony backdrop, we chose ornate urns on pedestals to match the architecture of the building.
Designing Flowers for the Scottish Rite Cathedral Ballroom
When designing flowers for a venue like Scottish Rite Cathedral, scale is one of the first things we consider. The Ballroom’s high ceilings call for arrangements with enough height and fullness to feel connected to the room.
For Morgan and Austin’s wedding, tall, abundant arrangements helped fill the space. We did this combining trumpet-style arrangements as well as full above-head runners on elegant glass vases.
The white blooms stood out beautifully against the dark paneling, making the floral feel crisp and striking.
This is one of our favorite things about designing for this venue: the same architecture can support very different floral visions. For another take on the space, explore Devon and Clarissa’s Scottish Rite Cathedral wedding, featuring a softer blush and cream palette.
A Classic Rose Bouquet with a Personal Detail
Morgan loved the look of a rounded, all-white rose bouquet. Our goal was to preserve that classic shape while finding a thoughtful way to connect her bouquet to the orchids used throughout the wedding.
We suggested wiring a few orchid buds into the bouquet. This allowed us to place those smaller details among the roses without changing the silhouette she loved.
The result was a bouquet that felt beautifully classic, with a subtle detail that made it her own. Sometimes a small design decision is what brings the whole floral story together.
A Collaboration with IndyGigz
Morgan and Austin came to us through Betsy, owner and lead planner at IndyGigz. We’ve had the pleasure of working with her clients multiple times, and we always appreciate the opportunity to collaborate again.
For this wedding, the venue, formal attire, and floral palette all worked together so naturally. It was a lovely example of how a clear design direction can make every part of a celebration feel connected.
