A Garden Party Wedding at the Bluffs at Conner Prairie

A Garden Party Wedding at the Bluffs at Conner Prairie

It’s hard not to fall in love with The Bluffs at Conner Prairie. Surrounded by lush trees, this secluded wedding venue has breathtakingly tall ceilings, bright white walls, subtle wood accents, and two perfect outdoor spaces for both your ceremony and cocktail hour. It’s easy to forget that you are smack dab in the middle of Fishers, Indiana, and not out in the wilderness. Both beauty and convenience make it hard to beat and a great choice for Indianapolis couples.

This past June, we had the pleasure of designing florals at the Bluffs for Lauren and John’s garden-party wedding. While this isn’t our first time flowering at The Bluffs (see the photos from an all-white wedding at The Bluffs), the breathtaking views surrounding the ground and the picturesque drive up the winding road to the building will continue to take my breath away every time.

Fun fact: Lauren and John discovered us through the power of social media – Lauren was pulled to our page because John is also an identical twin (just like us)!

An Indianapolis Wedding Day Filled with Whimsy

With an aesthetic that can only be described as “garden-party whismy”, Lauren and John's wedding day was filled with laughter, personal charm, and lots of lush florals.

When Lauren and John began planning their wedding, they knew they wanted an atmosphere that felt relaxing, comfortable, and fun. This and the picturesque, wooded vibe of the Bluffs at Conner Prairie lead them to a summer garden-party theme.

To compliment the venue's natural charm, they opted for a playful color palette featuring whites and greens as the base, with pops of light blue and peach. The result was a magical combination of florals that perfectly captured their playful wedding aesthetic.

While we weren’t present at the reception, we had an absolute blast living vicariously through the Instagram stories of Addison Blaise, their talented photographer, which included lots of singing, dancing, and a touch of air guitar that added an extra dose of joy to the festivities!

The Bluffs is the Perfect Venue for a Garden-Party

As their floral guide, we worked with Lauren to refine her Pinterest vision and turn her wedding flower dreams into reality (while also staying within budget).

For the reception, we suggested a mix of centerpiece options that not only fit their budget but also created visual interest through varying heights. As a luxury wedding florist, we always recommend mixing different table settings together. It gives your guests more to look at, and keeps things visually interesting. For Lauren and John, we opted for the simplicity and elegance of mixed-in bud vases, low bowl arrangements, and greenery with taper candles.

The biggest statement in our floral design was at the ceremony. Since the ceremony florals were the most important to Lauren,  we focused their floral budget on something high-impact but also reusable. We designed an illusion arch that grew up both sides of the gate that sits outside at the Bluffs venue.

When the wedding day finally came, our unpredictable Indiana weather blessed Lauren and John with clear blue skies and cool temperatures, just right for an outdoor ceremony. After the ceremony, we made sure that their ceremony installation didn't go to waste by repurposing it on both sides of the mantle at the Bluffs, maximizing their investment.

Another unique and personal floral piece from Lauren and John's wedding was the charming welcome sign they built themselves. Resembling a flower planter, it perfectly embodied the garden-party theme and added a warm and inviting touch for their guests. It's these thoughtful and personal touches that make each wedding truly special and memorable!

Stylish Attire with a Twist

The wedding party looked absolutely stunning on the big day. The gentlemen donned classic black suits, while the bridesmaids wore Pistachio and Light Moss dresses. Instead of matching the bridesmaids’ dress colors to the floral palette, we decided to accentuate the create some contrast to the sage and moss with floral arrangements. While the greens were complimented with a base of white and green, the accents of blue and peach really made the flowers pop in the bouquets. This unique combination added a refreshing twist to the overall look and proved that you don't always need to match your floral colors to the primary color of your wedding palette. You can still create a harmonious and eye-catching ensemble through contrasting tones. In fact, we think it’s even more impactful!

A Heartfelt Testimonial

Lauren and John's wedding was a dream come true, filled with love, laughter, and lots of whimsy. It warms our hearts to hear such kind words from Lauren:

"We loved working with Duet Floral Studio! For the proposal, they worked with us to give us multiple options to find the best fit for our budget. The planning meetings were organized and helpful. I was all smiles when I saw all the florals come together at the ceremony and reception! It was everything I could have asked for and more."

We are incredibly grateful to have been a part of this Indianapolis wedding day, and we wish Lauren and John a lifetime of happiness and love.
